The Isle of Mull is only a 45 minute ferry ride away, which means that on a day trip you can visit such sites as the Abbey on Iona and Fingal's Cave as well as Tobermory (Balamory!). Only 2 miles from the villages of Connel - where you could enjoy a meal in one of the 3 local hotels, and Benderloch where there is a lovely beach and some terrific forest walking available.
